The house of black and white

The house of black and white is the name of the temple of the faceless men in Braavos. After watching the TV programme Game of Thrones I was inspired this idea; to create a variety of many different expressive faces with black and white on pixel art. The faceless men worship death and they believe is the only true God. They assassinate specific targets whom they believe are due death and their face should belong to the God of death. The faceless men are highly skilled assassins and they can use those faces to their benefit. They can hide in plain sight when they carry out their tasks and be of a different face to avoid capture.
I find this art work very fascinating because not many people think of death or dead faces as art. People in various cultures fear death and that is why they are consumed by it. Many monotheistic or eastern religions explore the possibility of life after death or the immortality of soul, they base their theologies on their fear of death and people with limited knowledge hang on this small chance to get a longer life. They are blameless of course because life is beautiful and full of wonders to explore and learn from, but I think the focus should be on how to improve life rather than live in a fantasy. Having a meaningful life is more rewarding in my experience and should be taught at a younger age. In my opinion death should be a celebration rather than a tragedy, a celebration of a concluded meaningful life, productive and has its mark on society and the loss of the physical body would mean so little if people think more this way about death. Because I think the immortality of the soul is very real when you after dying live through your children and they survive through their children and so on. The only thing we have control over after we die is how well you raise your children and what values you teach them. There are many cultures who look positively to death, for instance In New Orleans funerals are celebrated with music and dance along the way to the cemetery and joyful music are played at the end.
This is my project idea; for the website I will have six pieces of work that revolve around the different human face expressions that are; Anger, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness and surprise (Paul Ekman in studying emotions and their relation to facial expression). The plan is to try and design different faces on pixel art that give that vibe of these six feelings. It is going to be in black and white and every piece will contain a main black and white photos of my friends in the middle and smaller faces with similar expression around it that are done with pixel art. The smaller faces will look towards the middle face and the smallest faces will look towards them. I will have to learn Photoshop for this work because I am going to need it for editing the pictures and copy pasting them.
